Sept. 20 Kenneth Columbus, 48, of New Rochelle, N.Y., was charged with driving while intoxicated and careless driving aafter Vernon police responded to the area of Minerals Resort for a report of a motor vehicle accident and electrical wires down. Upon arrival, police said they discovered powerlines were hanging low over Route 94 and the roadway needed to be shut down.
