NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. The New Rochelle Police Department said goodbye to one of its finest Thursday, after Lucia Mele-Hansen passed away at 40 after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. Since being diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer in 2011 a year after she was married to fellow officer John Hansen, Mele-Hansen has fought off the disease and sought treatment at some of the finest medical institutions throughout the country.
