The New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department has inspected two local lakes and one pond and deemed the three safe for ice skating and playing hockey, officials announced Thursday. "Due to persistent below freezing temperatures, the following lakes and ponds have been inspected and designated by Park staff to open for skating within the roped areas effective today, January 15," the department wrote in a statement.
